TMJ

With symptoms including a locking, clicking or popping of the jaw joint, TMJ can negatively impact one’s quality of life. The good news is for many years, Dr. Teague has helped to resolve patients’ TMJ. We can feel how someone’s jaws are out of alignment and see it. Using an adjustment technique, we can realign the jaws, typically after 1-7 or 8 adjustments. After the course of adjustments, most patients will be symptom-free. We encourage all dentists in our area to send your patients with TMJ symptoms to see us.

Vertigo

If you experience dizziness, a spinning sensation and nausea, you likely have vertigo. When a person has vertigo, the little stones in the ear come out of alignment. The result is feeling those unpleasant sensations. We use a technique that helps to get the stones back where they are supposed to be. When that happens, the dizziness disappears, usually after just one adjustment. For patients who have suffered from vertigo for a long time, it may take a few weeks for the symptoms to clear. All patients, however, should feel a difference the first day! Our practice is only one of a few in the Dayton area that offers the technique.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression therapy is FDA approved and has a high success rate for pain associated with herniated or bulging disc even after back surgery. It is nonsurgical, traction based therapy for the relief of back and leg pain, or neck and arm pain.

During spinal decompression therapy, a negative pressure is created within the disc — because of that negative pressure, disc material that has protruded or herniated can be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc, and permit healing to occur.

Spinal decompression therapy can help anyone who has back pain or neck pain as a whole, or anyone in pain due to a damaged disc. These conditions include herniated, protruding or bulging disc, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).

Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound utilizes high frequency inaudible sound waves to treat a variety of soft tissue injuries. Ultrasound is applied using a rounded wand or probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin. At first, you will feel the cooling of the gel. The gel is used to improve sound conduction. Then, you’re likely to feel a pleasant, warm sensation beneath the skin in the region being treated. When these high frequency sound waves are directed to soft tissue and joints, the rise in temperature increases blood flow to the region, relaxes muscle spasms, increases metabolism and promotes the bodies healing response. Think of an ultrasound as a form of deep tissue micro massage, helping reduce joint stiffness and stimulate cell repair.

Ultrasound treatment can take from 3-5 minutes, in cases where scar tissue is present treatment time could be longer. During the treatment, the probe is kept in constant motion.

Electric muscle stimulation

The reason we use electric stimulation is because it assists in the healing of muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It also helps with pain, inflammation, muscle spasms, atrophy, decreased circulation and promotes osteogenic stimulation. Electrical muscle stimulation lasts from 8-15 minutes in addition to any chiropractic adjustment.

Cold Laser Therapy

We use light frequencies that actually reduce inflammation and enhance the healing process. The frequency of the light is where the healing comes from, not the strength of the laser, which is why it is called cold laser. Our laser works on a narrow frequency of red light, not the full spectrum that the sun produces. The cells of our body have receptors that are sensitive to light. How can light frequencies speed up or slow down biological processes? Many theories have been suggested, but from practical application with real patients, we know it works for wound healing, cell regeneration, and scar tissue reduction.
